A New Year of Fears and Tears

I have to say that I haven't caught the delicate butterfly Scholarship yet, but I'm getting closer and closer as the days go-by. I'm not going to let those deadly deadlines strike their vemon into my veins and stop me in my tracks. Scholarship can avoid my net for long and when he flies a bit closer to my trap, he'll be all mine. Catching him is one of my 'new years resolutions' along with writing another Sirius story that is holiday theme (suggested from the advice of a very wise friend ;) ). And speaking of 'new years resolutions' I have to now go on a trip to  a terrible and dangerous place. A place more treacherous then the swampy rainforests of the Amazon and the barren deserts of Africa combine- the dark, jungle that is my closets. So, while I'm swimming in an ocean of sweaters, scaling mountains of coats, and swinging on vines of dress clothes; I hope you all have a happy new year! ;)

A Flurry of Words

Hello, my readers,
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I know for a fact I did (one Dragonology book and a book of fables from around the world. We even got a bit of snowfall.  Best Christmas ever. ;) ). The exclusive being known as Scholarship is almost in my grasp. I just have a few more days to entice him before we get back in school. Hopefully, the bright New Year that is upon us will assist me in my future plans. Also, Cheese and Krakens has received an increase in views and ratings on Teen Ink.

Who knew a quirky story about a nutty mollusk would be so popular?

I wish you all a happy new! :)

Woes of a Winter Writer

Hello and happy holidays everyone! I know it's been almost forever since I last wrote you, but I was visited by a heavenly vision for the last couple of days. No, it's not the ghost of Christmas past, future, or present, it's an angelic creature beloved by all college and high school students- simply know as Scholarship. Yes, he's been taunting me for sometime now with deadlines in January and February. However, if I can entice him and wrap him up before the winter break is finish, I think I can bring in the New Year with a smile. Speaking of New Year, my resolution is to relax more, which is will a challenge for me because I'm more winded up than a spring in a box mattress. However, I have to say that this Winter Break is going quite smoothly. I have recently discover a treat more sweeter than a Christmas mistletoe kiss- the Logical and very Comical blog of Mr. Nathan Bransford.

Here are the links to two great blog post that I find to be very inspiring.

I wish all my readers a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! ;)

In the lair of High School

Hello, again.
I'm sorry I have not written you in the while, but like I said in my last post I had to go one-on-one with the orange-eye monster, the scourge of schoolchildren, known as HOMEWORK. I have to say that he's a tough fight, making me pull my hair out and stubbornly battling me until the dark hours of the nigth. However, I was able to come out on top of the awful beast and his vain bribe know as Pop Quizzes. Things are starting to calm down as the holidays get here and through the HOMEWORK-beast will be sleeping the rest of winter away after December 17, his cousin, the equally annoying, EXAM, is going to be ready to pounce on me once we get back.  My allies Studying, the Internet, and of course, the angelic Scholarship will have to put on battle gear on and prepare for a long epic struggle until February. Still look for more post through, as I will display more as the soon.

Of Homework and Hydras

Another of my Sirius' story is on the front page of Teen Ink's Fantasy/sci fi section page: Sirius-The-Dragon and the Hilarious Hydra!

To view the article on the page click this link:

To go straight to the article itself click this link:

This is the story I consider the polar opposite of Sirius-The-Dragon and The Lovely Worm.

Anyway, I have go conquer another monster, a creature so vile that school-children are more fearfully of it than they are of the Boogieman. The dreaded beast known simply as: HOMEWORK! So, if you don't hear from me by next week, assume I'm in the process of  putting  the Homework-Beast in a chock hold.

Pins, Needles, and Number Two Pencils

I just got back from my SAT test. This is my first time so I had no idea what I was in for this morning. I'll tell you it was like walking a path of pins and needles (mentally speaking of course). However, I think I made it through quite nicely and answered each of the questions to the best of my abilities and I think (hope) I did well.

Also, Sirius-the-Dragon and the Lovely Worm is on the front page of the Teen Ink Fantasy/Sci Fi Section for the entire day! This is like the tenth time in was display there is this is a real honor for me that so many people on Teen Ink love that story (secretly, it's my favorite).

I would do a victory dance if I wasn't so drained, so I guess I'll have to do daydream of doing one.

Baffled Blogger

Hello and welcome to the very odd and quirky blog of Melody Jackson- aspiring author, sister, daughter, and lover of books and anything with mythology. Now, I bet you're probably wondering "What's with the title?" Well, let me explain that the "Sirius the Dragon" mention in the title is the main character in a series of short stories I written. You can read some of these stories on TeenInk, I'm including the link to one of them below.

If you like the story please leave a comment and thanks again for visiting my blog.
